Thank you for this incisive piece. My late wife, whom I loved dearly, had to undergo double mastectomy at one point in the effort to prolong her life. Cuddling one night after her recovery, she asked me the inevitable question about her lost breasts: “does it matter to you?” I hugged her and said truthfully that I was only that much closer to her heart.
